But when He delivers them (from the storm), they rebel in the earth without having the right to do so. O mankind! your rebellion is only against yourselves, a provision of the life of this world, then to Us will be your return, then We will inform you of that which you used to do.
Life is compared with rain water. Water is the cause of growth of vegetation, similarly life is the cause of the growth of human beings. Water keeps vegetation intact similarly life keeps the human being intact. When water is removed from vegetation through evaporation, it crumbles to pieces 18:45, similarly when life is removed, a human being dies decays and disintegrates into pieces. Life is thus as temporary as vegetation whereas the hereafter is everlasting and good for believers and bad for the infidels.
