Qaroon, who had acquired an important position with Firawn, was actually from the community of Musa (PBH) i.e. Bani Isreal, inspite of which he oppressed them probably to be in good books of Firawn for acquiring worldly gains. It was Allah (SWT) Who had given him tremendous wealth but he wrongly ascribed it to his personal capabilities when people asked him to spend it in the path of Allah (SWT) on others. He used to exhibit proudly his wealth and only senseless people admired him. Finally he was made to sink into the earth with his house when no one was able to help him. Those who had admired him earlier realized their fault and accepted that it is Allah (SWT) Who makes people rich or poor and that the ungrateful, like Qaroon, are not successful.
