As-Sajdah (The Prostration)

0-1

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Our Prophet (PBH), through the very first revelation of the Quran, was ordered:
“Recite in the name of your Fosterer…” (Chapter 96: Verse 1) and the name of his and our Fosterer is Allah (SWT), as is evident from the very first verse of the first chapter of the Quran:
“Praise is due only for Allah (SWT), the Fosterer of the worlds”. (Chapter 1: Verse 1)
In view of this order of Allah (SWT), we should recite/read before starting the recitation or reading of the Holy Quran which is a part of the Quran, occurring at the beginning of 113 out of 114 chapters of the Quran and also as part of Chapter 27: Verse 30 of the Quran. Through Chapter 16: Verse 98, Allah Taala further orders:
“So when you recite/read the Quran, seek the protection of Allah from the accursed devil”.
This means that we are required to pray; (Aoozu Billahi min Ash shaitaanir Rajeem) meaning: “I seek the protection of Allah from the accursed devil”, even before reciting or reading: (Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem)

Alif Laam Miim.

Alif Laam Meem are Arabic alphabets. Such alphabets appear at the beginning of many Suras. Their meanings are not known, nevertheless they are regarded as part of the Quran. See Verse:2:1

32-2

The sending down of the book, in which there is nothing doubtful, (is) from the Fosterer of the worlds.

The Quran is not forged, it is the truth sent down by Allah (SWT).

32-3

Or do they say, “”He has forged it?”” No, it is the truth from your Fosterer that you may warn a people to whom no warner had come before you, that they may receive guidance.

32-4

It is Allah Who created the skies and the earth and that which is between them both, in six periods, then He set the balance on the throne (of the universe). You do not have besides Him any guardian nor do you have a mediator. Then, will you not be mindful?

Allah (SWT) governs the Universe, He knows everything. He created everything perfect with respect to the purpose it was to serve. He created the first man from clay and his progeny from sperm and egg. See also Verse 4:1, Verse 22:5. He granted equilibrium to mankind and also the power of right decision (See word No. 320) along with receptive powers. Mankind, instead of acknowledging these and other obligations of Allah (SWT), doubts His powers of raising the dead to meet Him.

then made His progeny from something (sperm and egg) taken out from the fluid (which is) weakened after vigour {1},

“Same to Verse No.4”
The word ‘Maheen’ not only means disgraceful but also something weakened after vigourous exercise. The latter meaning which suits the context, has therefore been adopted here.

32-9

then He set him in equilibrium and breathed into him from His spirit and made for you the (sources of) hearing and seeing and the hearts, little is the gratitude you show.

32-10

And they say, “”What! when we are lost in the earth, will we then be in a new creation?”” No, they do not believe in (their) meeting with their Fosterer.

“Same to Verse No.4”

32-11

Say, “”The angel of death, who is entrusted with you, will take you back (cause you to die), then to your Fosterer you will be returned.”” (R 1)

The angel appointed to cause people to die will return our soul (consciousness or conscious self) to Allah (SWT) 39:42

32-12

And if you (could only) see, when the criminals would bow down their heads before their Fosterer (pleading), “”Our Fosterer! we have seen and heard, so send us back we will do righteous work, (now) we are certain.””

The criminals will be full of regrets on the day of judgment.

32-13

This is on account of the devil. See also 7:18, 11:118 – 119, 38:85

32-14

So taste (the punishment), because you forgot the meeting of this day of yours We (too) will forget you. And taste the everlasting punishment because of that which you used to do.

The sinners will be punished.

32-15

Only those believe in Our signs who, when they are reminded through them, fall down prostrate and glorify by praising their Fosterer and they do not consider themselves great.

Some qualities of the believers and their rewards are mentioned.

Then, is he who is a believer, like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal.
